Au nom de Dieu Amen, soit a tous notoire, comme ainsi soit que par devant moy Notaire soubsigné, et en presence des tesmoings cy bas nommez, s'est personnellement constituée et establie honnorée Clemence Dutoict vefve de fust honnorable Nicod Clot habitant a Mouldon laquelle ayant atteind l'aage de crepitude neantmoings (grace a Dieu) de bon sens memoire et entendement, considerant les calamités et inconvenients de ceste vie caduque et perissable mesme a la mort a tout homme inevitable, et l'heure d'icelle incertaine, et qu'il vaut doncques beaucoup mieux disposer de ses affaires pendant que bon sens et jugement resident en la personne que de se laisser prevenir a la mort et mourir inteste, aux causes pour obvier et previnir a ce que prccede et disputes ne surviennent a l'advenir contre ceux qui luy attouchoit de sang et parentage pour l'esgard des biens desquelles il a pleu a Dieu notre pere luy eslarger en ce monde passagere, elle a fait son testament nuncupatif et declaration de sa derniere volonté a la maniere que s'ensuit, premierement apres s'estre recommandée a Dieu son createur le priant bien humblement qu'il luy plaise luy pardonner ses pechez au nom et pour l'amour du fils de sa dilection Jesus Christ notre Seigneur, et qu'estant son ame separée de son corps il plaise la vouloir recepvoire en son Saint Royaume de paradys en attendant la bienheureuse resurection pour jouye de la filicité eternelle avec les bienheureux, et dit et declaire sans induction du personne qu'elle donnoit et leguoit pour le nom de Dieu aux pauvres dudit Mouldon cinq florins payables tost apres son deceds par honnorée Dorothée sa fille, et d'autant que le chef et fondement de tous frays [vrais?] testaments bien ordonnez est l'Institution d'heritiers, elle a nommé et ordonné pour ses vrays et legitimes heritiers en tous et un chacun ses biens tant meubles qu'immeubles quelconques, Assavoir honnorables Abraham, Jean et ladite Dorothée femme d'honnorable Jean Mellet bourgeois dudit Mouldon ses bien aimez enfans, sauf qu'elle prerogue ladite Dorothée du tout ce que les loix luy peuvent permettre de preroguer heu esgard aux grandes et assiduelles assistances et debvoir que tant elle et ledit Mellet son mari luy ont rendus, et qu'elle espere recepvoir jusques a son trespas, entendant toutes fois que de ladite prerogation Claudine fille dudit Mellet son beaufils ait sa couche refaite avec son coffre de noyer ferré et fermant a la clef, outre la somme de cinquante florins, dejettant tous autres pretendants en sesdits biens moyennant chacun cinq sols, cassant et annehillant tous autres precedents testaments et codiciles que cy devant elle pouvoit avoir fait voulant et endandant cestuy cy present debvoir sortir son plein et entier effect tant en jugement que dehors, en effect de quoy elle renonce a toutes choses aux presentes contraires, et de renoncer necessaires. This Daniel is clearly identified at several baptisms from 1601 to 1614. A notarial document of Jaques Jayet, 27 dec 1615, indentifies him as the brother of David and the son of the late François Dutoit of Chavannes. He is assigned to François son of Claude, rather than François son of Nicod (Pierre), because he appears in a document of Clement Butty, notary at Vevey, 26 feb 1594, with his uncle Jaques Dutoit son of the late Claude Dutoit.
No children have been identified for this couple. However, there is considerable confusion due to the presence of another Daniel Dutoit and the failure of the church records of Moudon at this period to mention the mothers of the children who were baptised. One group of children who definitely belong together, assigned either to this or to the other Daniel, are "Anthoine, Jean, Pierre, Daniel, et Abraham fils de feu Daniel du Tey de Chavanes sus Mouldon", 30 jan 1627 (ACV Fo 17, fol. 328), Anthoine at that time already having reached the age of majority, and thus born no later than 1602. In fact, the other Daniel, who had married Sheres Demierre, was definitely the father of an Anthoine born in 1601, and the names Jean, Pierre, and Daniel are also children of one or the other of the two Daniels. If they all belong together, then those children, plus an Abraham whose baptism has not been identified, should be attached to Daniel and Sheres, and the earlier François son of Daniel presumably should belong here.

Identified in a sale in 1680 as Daniel the elder. He is cited elsewhere as "de Chavannes", and as the son of the late Daniel Dutoit (05 oct 1677, David de Treytorrens, notary), in the contract for the marriage of his daughter Sara to Abraham Dutoit. He is apparently the Daniel Dutoit who with his son Gaspard represented by his nephew Anthoine Dutoit, Lt. de Chavannes, makes a settlement 26 feb 1665, Benoit Giraudet notary, which appears to establish his parentage. However, another (?) Gaspard is claimed as son of Daniel Dutoit dit ès André.
By 13 dec 1680 (Jaques Crausaz, notary at Moudon), Daniel "the elder" was still alive, and a document of that date involves an agreement with his "beaufils" (son-in-law) Abraham Dutoit "the younger". The latter is the one who married Sara, Daniel's daughter, in 1677.
In the following transaction, the crop is hemp (chanvre). A chenevier is a hemp field.

Son of Pierre Dutoit of Chavannes, but there is some confusion over which Pierre he was. Daniel apparently died in 1618, when Anthoine son of the late Daniel appears at the baptism of Anthoine, son of Michel Veyre. Scheres first appears as his widow in 1620. The best guess for the father at this time is that Daniel's father Pierre is the one who married Anthoine DuToict, daughter of the late Mauris, and apparently father of a number of children, but only Daniel shows up in later records. It is possible that some of the children attributed to this couple belong to Daniel son of François, who married Susanne Veyre in 1598, though no mention of such an ancestry appears in later records. Unfortunately, the baptismal records for this period rarely mention the name of the mother.
