Noted as brother of Isaac 1689. However, this seems to be a confusion with Jacob son of Abraham. A document of Isaac Dutoit, notary, dated 25 feb 1689, has Elizabeth Becholley wife of J (ink blot) Dutoit officier de Chavannes, with her brother Jaques Becholley le jeune, apparently settling a marriage contract. In that same year, other documents show that Jacob son of Abraham was the officier de Chavannes. Records of several notaries confirm a Jacob son of Abraham.
A document of 08 dec 1727 (Daniel Antoine Jossevel, notary at Moudon) shows that Jacob's son Antoine had become Officier de Chavannes. Another document recorded by the same notary on 07 apr 1741 shows that Antoine had a son Moyse and an uncle Balthazard Dutoit. Evidently Moyse owed a debt of 100 fl. to Demoiselle Dubrit at the Fleur de Lys in Moudon.
Documents recorded by Noé Jaquier (10 apr 1719 and 04 mar 1720 especially) show that Jacob had died by 1720, and was probably dead by 1719. The document of 1719 relates to a property sold in an auction of his estate, but there is a remote possibility this could have been a liquidation to repay creditors rather than an actual probate. The language in the document of 1720 is conclusive, Antoine Dutoit son of the late Jacob, with wife Estiennaz Dutoit, buys property from Eg. Isaac Dutoit, whom we believe to have been the notary.

Baptismal record says Jaques, and specifies that his father Jean Dutoit was the pelletier. There is no other baptism that seems to fit, even though he was known as Jacob for the rest of his life. He is also called Jacob when he appears as the uncle of the children of his half-brother, Antoine Dutoit, in 1661.

Son of the late Pierre, 1695. Officier ballivale from at least 1714. We first believed this Jacob was the same man who married Claudine Chastellanat, first child noted 1725. However, the Jacob who married Claudine is identified in documents of Daniel Antoine Jossevel as a "fontenier" and now appears to be a different Jacob. The present Jacob is not the man who was "Officier de Chavannes", and who married Elizabeth Becholey. The present Jacob was "Officier Ballivale de Moudon".
An important document for reconstructing the genealogy of the Dutoit clan is a "convention" dated 24 may 1740 (Daniel Antoine Jossevel, notary at Moudon) involving children of the late Gaspard Dutoit (Daniel, Jaqueline widow of Isaac Lecheyres, Catherine wife of Pierre Borel) settling the estates of their late brother Jacob and sister Anne Marie. Assisting at this event were their "cousins" Louis Jacob Dutoit and Isaac Dutoit, brothers. They are in fact second cousins, provided we
understand that they all descend from Jean Dutoit, pelletier, by his two wives.

Death register at Moudon indicates he died from a fall while erecting a building at Valacrêt, at age 64. Known as Samuel in most records.
There is a significant discrepancy regarding his marriage. The record at Moudon says he married Jeanne Susanne Decrevel (daughter of Abraham Isaac Decrevel) of Combremont on 22 aug 1779. However, apparently the same marriage is recorded at Combremont, 22 aug 1779, giving the name of the bride as Jeanne Marguerite, daughter of the late Jean Jaques Miéville of Sedeilles!

Surname is "du Toirt" in the International Genealogical Index (IGI), where she is identified as the wife of Isaac Margueron, but the surname is clearly du Toict in the parish records of Lucens. The Dutoit family from Moudon has been discussed in Recueil des Généalogies Vaudoises. A Jaquemaz is said to have been born in 1635, daughter of Jaques Dutoit, probably son of David Dutoit b. 1571, son of François Dutoit who lived in Chavannes 1570. The surname appears in that area as early as the 15th Century, but relationships among these families were not established in the published account. The above parentage is evidently not correct. Without direct evidence on the parentage of this Jaquemaz, we rely on information gleaned from notarial records. If the information is correct as stated, we discover:
Isaac Margueron's second wife Esther Dutoit must have been born between 1625 and 1643, and she is the daughter of a Jean Dutoit. She had a brother Thomas Dutoit who was Châtelain de Syens. This Thomas cannot have been the one who married Claudine Poeterlin (that man was son of Abraham Dutoit and Pernon Veyre), and the only other contemporary Thomas, also identified as Grand Voyer and Intendant des Chemins, must be the brother of Esther. Finally, a record says that this Thomas is the maternal uncle of both Jaques Margueron, known to be the son of Isaac and Jaquemaz, and of the two daughters of Isaac and Esther. Therefore, Jaquemaz and Esther must have been sisters!
If this is correct, also, the baptism that must be hers is the one dated 11 mar 1617, Jaquemaz daughter of Jean DuToict cousturier of Chavannes, with sponsors Gabriel Veyre and his daughter Jaquemaz. In turn, this forces us to consider Jean Dutoit couturier to be the same man as Jean Dutoit "guererier" whose wife (at that time, 1634) was Catherine Bosson.
Under the government of Their Excellencies of Bern, it was not permissible for a man to marry his wife's sister. However, the regulations seem to have left a loophole for the case of half-sisters, depending on how the rather vague language is interpreted. At the moment, the most likely interpretation of the documents for this family is that Jaquemaz Dutoit and Esther Dutoit, successively the wives of Isaac Margueron, were daughters of the same father, but of different mothers.
