He studied in Basel and in France, and after some years as a soldier returned to Bern in 1533. Among his more notable exploits may be cited the regiment he led in 1562 in support of the Huguenots, under the prince de Condé, which penetrated as far as Lyon.

Appears as a sponsor for a baptism at Morges, where identified as the son of the bailli there, in 1614. Birthdate from traditional genealogy is 1591, but we did not find his baptism. However, there is a baptism indexed to page 376 for the churchbook covering 1582-1602, the page itself now missing. The date would have been in January, 1596, and we suppose the missing page contained the baptism of Albrecht.
