Presumed to have died young, because of the baptism of her sister Marie 10 years later, but there are rare families in which two children in the same family are given the same name at this period. These cases are extremely rare, but we know of one case around Moudon in the 16th Century as well as a case near Payerne.

She is named as the wife of Daniel Burnand, supposedly the daughter of Antoine Dutoit, Banderet of Moudon. Unfortunately, there seems to be no direct evidence for her parentage. The Antoine Dutoit who served as Banderet was much too young to be her father. While it is clear that a Marie Dutoit did marry a Daniel Burnand, the Daniel Burnand who settled at Chavannes and who is supposed to have been the Daniel who baptised a number of children at Moudon seems instead to be a different Daniel, who married Françoise Dutoit. It seems most likely that both Daniels must trace their origins to Vulliens, and that the one who married Marie Dutoit stayed in the area of Vulliens, while the one who married Françoise Dutoit of Chavannes is the one who is documented at Moudon.

Documents of Jaques Richard, notary, 15 jul 1598, indicate that Marie, wife of Pierre Rechoz and daughter of the late Thomas Dutoit, has died, and that Gaspard Dutoit is involved in assuring the rights of Marie's daughter Magdelaine Rechoz.

Cited as wife of Jean Decristaz, Vidomne de Moudon, when she appeared as a sponsor at a baptism in Lucens, 1653. Evidently the same Marie is cited as wife of Sr. Decristaz in 1643 at the baptism of Marie, daughter of Pierre Frarin at Moudon, and as late as 1660 at another baptism. She appears at least once (30 mar 1648) in connection with the family of Claude Bechet and his wife Susanne Dutoit, and with the family of Nicod Clot and Clémence Dutoit (1647), and with the family of Gabriel Dutoit and Marie Fudri (1650).
One possible explanation for these associations could be that she is Marie, daughter of Humbert Dutoit and Jeanne Boeuf, born in 1607. In that case, she would be the sister of Clémence Dutoit. Her brother Abraham Dutoit born in 1598 could be the one who married Jaquemaz Decristaz. Another possibility is that she is a daughter of Jaques Dutoit dit Maillard. Or, perhaps she is the daughter of the previous Vidomne de Moudon, Antoine Dutoit, since the time-honored method of acquiring this post seems to have been marriage to the daughter of the last Vidomne. This last possibility, however, seems to be precluded by the observation that Marie daughter of Antoine Dutoit is known to have been the wife of Pierre Correvon in 1652, and the present Marie is cited as the wife of Jean Decristaz from at least 1643 until 1660.
