Much information in Gibson Papers, pp. 230-31. Apparently, he went to PA to join his brother William there, studied law with "the firm of Wilson and Lester, Esquires", returned to Salem, Washington Co., NY in 1844 and joined the bar there. He was a "deputy surveyor" in PA 31 jan 1841, possibly a state appointment. He was injured in the battle of Dallas, Georgia, but cemetery record indicates he died at Chattanooga.

Middle name and alternate first name are from John R. McDougall family bible (transcribed "Candaec" in pension). In 1920, she was living with her daughter Louie at 4244 Eliot Street, Denver, CO. The only known early photo appears to date from after 1887, an albumin print made by Eaton, 1320 Farnam St., Omaha, NE (photographer at that address from 1880, but Reedy family not listed in Omaha directories until 1887).
Item from the Columbus, Nebraska Journal, 24 may 1882: "Mrs. J. J. H. Reedy started yesterday morning on a visit to her parents, who reside in Richardson county, Neb. They are upwards of 70 years of age, and are quite infirm. Her father, Rev. J. McDougall has for many years been an active itinerant in the United Brethren Church, and is now a superannuate. He has spent over 40 years in the ministry. His labors in the Republican valley have been very acceptable. That he may complete his four score years, is hardly probable." In the same issue, it is noted that J. J. H. Reedy was then representing Grace parish in Columbus at the diocesan council meeting in Omaha.
An odd item appeared in the Denver Post, 06 nov 1915: "Officers Think She May Have Become Ill And Wandered Away. Mrs. Carrie Reedy, 65, a widow, is being sought by the police on the request of relatives who visited her home at 4244 Eliot street this morning and found her missing. All the doors of the house were open and the lights were burning, indicating that Mrs. Reedy disappeared sometime last night. Neighbors said she told them yesterday afternoon she was going to the Union station to see two granddaughters who were due to pass through Denver at 7 o'clock en route from St. Louis to Tacoma, Wash. Whether she went to the station has not been ascertained, but her relatives feel certain that, had she gone, she would have turned off the lights before leaving the house, or at least, that she would have locked the doors. The contents of the house gave no indication of having been disturbed by any outsider, and for this reason the police do not share the fears of her relatives that she met with foul play. They believe she became suddenly ill and wandered away, in which it is possible that she succumbed to exposure. Her disappearance was discovered by her son-in-law, the Rev. I. H. Albright, and his wife, Mrs. Reedy's eldest daughter. They formerly lived with Mrs. Reedy and were in the habit of making almost daily calls on her. When they arrived at the house this morning and found the lights burning it impressed them as being a queer circumstance. When they found Mrs. Reedy was not in the house they supposed she was visiting at the home of some neighbor. An hour elapsed before they came to a realization that she had disappeared." The solution to this puzzle appeared in the same newspaper on 07 and 08 nov 1915: "MRS. REEDY FOUND INJURED IN HOTEL. Mrs. Carrie E. Reedy, 65, who was reported missing from her home at 4244 Eliot street yesterday morning, was located late yesterday at the Oxford hotel, where she was taken Friday night from the union station, suffering from a fall in the train yards. She is now under the care of a physician at her home. Mrs. Reedy went to the station to see two of her granddaughters, who passed thru Denver en route from St. Louis to Tacoma, Wash. While walking thru the train sheds she slipped on a rail of one of the tracks and pitched forward, striking on her face. One arm, which she threw out in an effort to save herself from injury, was badly wrenched, her chest was hurt, and she suffered a bruise on her head. She was unconscious for several minutes. "I didn't want to alarm my relatives, so I went to the Oxford for the night," she said. "I didn't stop to think what wild conjectures might arise in their minds when they found the lights burning in my home and my bed unused." "AGED WOMAN KEEPS INJURY UNKNOWN TO RELATIVES. "Rather than alarm my relatives, I went to the Oxford hotel for the night, after being injured at the Union station," said Mrs. Carrie E. Reedy, 65 years old, 4244 Eliot Street, for whom relatives and the police searched the city Friday night. Mrs. Reedy had gone to the station to see two granddaughters, who passed thru Denver from St. Louis to their home in Tacoma. Leaving the station thru the train sheds, she slipped on a rail and sustained painful injuries to her face, one arm and chest. She was unconscious for a few minutes, and after recovery went to the Oxford hotel rather than go home and alarm her relatives. She was reported to the police as missing."
