[15389] There has been much speculation about the wife (or wives) of Jasper Gunn. In various records she is named Ann or Christian. On 25 April 1641 Jasper and wife, Mary, were admitted to the church in Milford, CT, having been dismissed from the church in Hartford, CT. Mary's name appears on the stone on the Memorial Bridge in Milford. However, Christian Gunn, widow, left a will in which she named all of the same children Jasper Gunn mentioned in his will. The wills are recorded in the Probate Court in New Haven, CT. The early New Haven records need to be explored again.

In WFT, Vol. 27, Pedigree 2931, the submitter has Christian's surname as Baldwin and names parents, Richard Baldwin and Isabel Harding. No proof is offered. Also was noted a 2d marriage to Mary, last name unknown. [12663] Susan W. Abbott, compiler, Families of Early Milford, CT (Baltimore, MD: Genealogical Publ. Co., 1979) — Pg 317 : Gunn was Milford's first physician, a mender of brass and copper vessels (for medicine alone could not support a family in those times), schoolmaster, sealer of weights and measures, a deacon of the church and generally a man of importance in the community.
