Possibly Maryann Starn m (1) Otna or Otho Case, son Joseph B. Case b. 1816, lived Meigs Tp., Adams Co., OH? -- see query from Evalyn Norris, 223 Highland Dr., Iowa City, IA 52240 in dec 1980 Adams Co. Gen. Soc. newsletter. If Maryann died in 1850, she should be in the 1850 Mortality Schedule, but I have been unable to find her. She would most likely have been the daughter of Joseph Starn or Stern(e)(s) of Scott Tp. Other sources give a 3rd husband, William McCorkle, and indicate she died in 1845. Another source says her daughter Marinda Smith was orphaned at the age of 12, which would seem to place Maryann's death around 1847.
[5236]
info. from descendant Les Smith, Bremerton, WA. Last name may have been Stern or Sterns, has been written Starns.
[5237]
Adams Co. Deeds, bk. 22 p. 271, Mary Ann Smith, widow & relict of Reuben Smith, to Jacob Schultz, 16sep1841 -- one account says moved to Iowa ca 1840, perhaps m. a Mr. McCorkle, and died 1845.

[12698] The records about Edith and her brother, Edward, are confusing, to say the least. Each seems to offer a different date and place of birth....(Braintree, ENG; Black Notley, ENG; Woodham Parish, Essex, ENG). Possibly the children of William Stebbing.
The American Genealogist, Vol. 31, No. 4, Oct. 1955 has an article about a Stebbing Family of co. Essex, England. pp 193-200 by John Insley Coddington of Washington, D.C., which needs further study. Coddington suggests that Hale, House, and Related Families by Donald L. Jacobus, 1952, has fairly complete biography of Editha Stebbins and her husbands.
