[15631] Amyas (or Amias) Chichester was the son of Sir John Chichester of Raleigh, ENG. Joan was the daughter of Sir Roger Gifford or Giffard of Brightleigh, co. Devon, ENG. Pedigree, downloaded from LDS FamilySearch internet site is on file and will need to be verified.

According to one researcher (see NEHGR 51:214) this couple had a very large family: Henry, John, Richard, Hugh, Robert, Gifford, Severus, Philip, Edward, Sylvester, Paul, Bartholomew, Gregory, Francis, Margaret, Elizabeth, Honor, Fanny or Frances. The will of the twelfth child, Bartholomew, names several of the above, as well as some of his Wyatt/Wyott cousins. Perhaps there was a 2d wife? Eighteen children by one wife, while not impossible, sounds like a bit much!

Batholomew apparently had no childlren. In his will, he does not say these are his siblings, rather he called them "kinswoman" and "kinsman" but definitely identifying his cousins.
