He is named as the guardian of the children of his deceased brother Johannes (son of Ludovicus) in 1522 (ACV Fh 203), and 1529. Since he is evidently the eldest of the men called Petrus de Gebennis alias Billiard in that period, he should also be the one who leased property as early as 1504. In the terrier Fj 10 (circa 1529, for the priory of Romainmôtier, fol. 227 — this volume contains undated summaries of feudal obligations; in other words, it may be termed a quernet), we find a man called Petrus de Gebennis junior (with wife Perroneta Vacherand), implying that another, older Pierre de Genève was also living at Gimel. The same terrier (fol. 233) shows that Pierre de Gebennis senior has a wife named Anthonia, and nephews Leodegarius, Jacobus, Colletus and Franciscus de Gebennis alias Billiard. The terrier Fh 203 (1522) gives this same set of sons for the late Jean son of Louis de Genève, and specifies their uncle Pierre de Genève is acting for them. Thus we know that Pierre senior had reached the age of majority at least by 1504, implying a date of birth no later than 1479.
No children of Pierre "senior" have been identified, but it is possible that he was father of Antoine, who does not seem to hold any property in common with Jaques, son of Pierre "junior". A clear statement that Antoine had inherited from the Vacherand family would resolve this question (Pierre "junior" married into the Vacherand family and Pierre "senior" did not), but nothing to this effect has yet been discovered in the terriers.

He made a "reconnaissance" 10 feb 1538, with his wife Pernete daughter of the late Pierre Vacherand, for a vineyard at Perroy "en Lyens en Malesert" that Pierre Vacherand had purchased from Michel de Pey and his wife in 1521 (ACV Fh 149, fol. 354v). It was only shortly after this era when Jaques de Genève dit Favre son of Pierre was purchasing property at Gimel. Taken together with the context of the properties that belonged to Estienne, son of Jaques Favre dit Genève circa 1580 (ACV Fh 34), many of which had previously belonged to the Vacherand family, it is clear that the present Pierre de Genève dit Billiard, with his wife Pernette Vacherand, must be the grandparents of Estienne Favre. Further, this conclusion explains how Estienne Favre could be a descendant of Jenete or Johannete du Bugnion, who was the wife of the elder Pierre Vacherand (ACV Fh 34, fol. 201).
Apparently the same Pierre de Genève dit Billiard of Gimel was also the father of Anthoine Billiard or de Genève (unless Anthoine was the son of Pierre "senior", likely a brother of the present Pierre "junior", see below). The terrier Fh 18 shows that some of the property that Antoine owned about 1552 ended up with the sons of Estienne Favre by about 1600. Why the alias Favre became attached to Pierre's son Jaques, we can only speculate. It might be that it was simply because of his profession of "maréchal", a specialist in shoeing horses, and thus a kind of blacksmith (favre). Or, it may be that Antoine and Jaques were the sons of two different mothers, and that the property Jaques inherited through is mother gave him a distinct status that called for a new alias (or, that they were the sons of two different fathers as well, Pierre "senior" and Pierre "junior", see below).
No mention of a maternal inheritance for Antoine, a clue that might indicate another marriage for Pierre de Genève, has yet surfaced. However, in the "quernet" Fh 34, the long section relating to the property of the sons of the late François de Genève alias Billiard, much of it adjacent to property held by Discret Jean Billiard, son of Anthoine, we find a statement that is highly suggestive (fol. This is a statement about the past ownership of two properties; the descriptions of the properties do not seem particularly informative. The past owner, Pierre Billiard, could possibly be the present Pierre de Genève. His wife Mermette could be the mother of Antoine de Genève. The name Gachet is found at this period in the area around Perroy (alias in the Boucquin family), apparently not connected with the better-known Gachet family from the Vully region, and later in Payerne and Bern. However, without a date attached to this history of title for these properties, there is also another possibility: the Pierre Billiard intended might be the father-in-law of Louis de Genève, still living in 1468. This explanation appears to be the correct one, since Mermeta was alive in 1456 (see the discussion of the terrier Fh 123 in the notes for Pierre Billiard).
In the terrier Fj 10 (circa 1529, for the priory of Romainmôtier, fol. 227 — this volume contains undated summaries of feudal obligations; in other words, it may be termed a quernet), he is called junior, implying that another, older Pierre de Genève was also living at Gimel. Is this another case where "senior" and "junior" are used to distinguish two brothers who have the same name, two sons of Louis both named Pierre? Or was Pierre "junior" simply the son of Pierre "senior", son of Louis? The only other usage of "senior" and "junior" that we found in the terrier Fj 10 is on fol. 218, where we find Claudius senior, son of Georgius Beney, and Claudius junior, his brother. In many such cases, the two brothers of the same name prove to be from different mothers. If this is the correct explanation for Pierre de Gebennis "senior" and "junior", it would also explain why they apparently held no properties jointly: a division of property would have occurred, possibly even before the death of their father, to assure that Pierre "senior" got his full share of the estate.
One of these Pierres, if there were really two of them, had reached the age of majority by 1504, when he leased property (Fh 9 fol. 100). As more information is gleaned from the terriers, the chronology may force us to add another generation here, but there is still no direct statement that the Pierre de Genève who married Pernette Vacherand was the son of either Pierre senior, or of Louis. Rather, at least one of the Pierre's was the son of Louis, and the two Pierre's appear to be brothers. Further, there are no other "de Gebennis alias Billiard" in the area, and the marriage of Louis de Gebennis and Anthoenne Billiard uniquely explains the origin of the family name. In fact, since the alias Billiard is associated with both of the Pierres's, and originated with their presumed father, it is difficult to see how they could have been the sons of two different mothers. If that were the case, only one of them should have had the alias Billiard.
To explore another possibility, could Pierre "junior" have been the son of either Pierre "senior" or his deceased brother Johannes? With so many properties cited in the terriers, it is difficult to believe such a relationship would not have been mentioned. It seems especially unlikely that he was the eldest son of Johannes, because in that case he would stand to inherit along with his brothers from the estate of Johannes, and so should have held at least some property jointly with them. But he is not named in a way that connects him to the estate of Johannes. Also, if he were a son of Pierre "senior", who was still living, it seems unlikely he would have held so many parcels in his own name, and unlikely as well that his parentage would not have been noted. Therefore, the most plausible conclusion is that Pierre "junior" was a brother of Pierre "senior".
Still to be explained is a donation between the Savariod family and the de Genève family. The most explicit mention we have discovered is in the terrier Fh 18, fol. 40, dated 12 dec 1554, where the reconnaissant, Antoine de Genesve aultrement Billard, holds a parcel, lieudit En Borreres, which had been purchased by his grandfather Louis de Genève from George Savariod for 13 florins, 27 se 1496 (notary Jaques de la Foge), with George Savariod retaining the right of "reachept", such that Savariod could at any time redeem the property upon payment of the original price of 13 florins. Later, this reconnaissance continues, this right was included, "avecq d'autres" assets, in a donation made by Antoine Savariod, son of George, to Pierre de Genève, son of Louis, dated 14 jul 1529 (notary Guillaume Billiard of Montherod). The donation itself seems to be lost, and we have not discovered what other properties it may have included. Donations were normally made on occasions of some significance, such as a marriage, or in contemplation of the donor's impending death. Could Antoine Savariod have been involved in some way in one of these events? Or did the de Genève heirs simply extinguish the claim by purchasing Savariod's interest in the property, an in return for such consideration Savariod "donated" (=relinquished) the reachept?
