He was already dead by 26 nov 1568, when George Osellet of Montherod sold property to Christoffle Dutruict and Anthoine Gouchy, guardians of Nicolas and Jean, sons of the late Egrège Guillaume Billyard of Montherod. The same sons Jean and Nicolas were wards of Christoffle Dutruict on 20 dec 1567, but the eldest son Gabriel was already an adult, when they made "reconnaissances" for property inherited from their parents (ACV Fh 211, fols. 30v and 37).

A different Jean Billiard was notary at Montherod, son of Egège Guillaume Billiard, who was in turn the son of Claude de Genève (apparently alias Billiard). The family at Montherod is cited in the terrier ACV Fh 164, fol. 306v).
The Discret Jean Billiard who was a notary from Gimel, and apparently later working at Rolle, was already a notary by 07 dec 1568, when he witnessed a transaction recorded by Claude Mayor (ACV DB 26/1, fol. 41). He is apparently the same Discret Jean Billiard, notaire de Gimel, who made a reconnaissance 19 jun 1567 (Fh 211, fol. 1011) with his wife Andrée daughter of the late Pierre Morel, notary of Bière. By this time, he had reached the age of majority. In 1576 he married Noble Jeanne d'Alliex, illegitimate daughter of "feu Genereux et Puissant Seigneur d'Alley, Seigneur de Luxinge", possibly referring to Jaques d'Alliex, noted in 1557. One or the other of the two Jean Billiards, and probably this one, since the other one does not seem to be mentioned in the records of the notary Claude Mayor, married Gabrielle Bégoz before 1591 (DB 26/7, fol. 74).
There are several documents mentioning him in the inventory of the ACV, 1578. Also, the notarial register identified as Dr 4/1, containing "obligations en faveur de Noble Jean Steiger, seigneur de Rolle" 1571-1597, contains instruments signed by at least two Billiards (one whose baptismal name is unknown, another identified as Amédée Billiard, evidently the Amyed Billiard noted in the terrier Fh 35 and elsewhere) plus a Michel Favre who may be related.

There are several items mentioning Johannetus or Johannes Billiard and his wife Johanneta Chane in the terrier ACV Fh 4, believed to date from about 1437: (fol. 53v) "Item, tenent ut supra que Johannes Billiar de Gimel tenere confessus fuit unam bonam posam terre sitam en Borreres juxta terram liberorum Johannodi Clerici a juria, et terram Francisci Primet de Nyviduno a lacu, pro qua debet ut supra sex denarios Lausannenses." (fol. 58v) "Item, tenent ut supra Johannem Biliar de Gimel et Johannetam eius uxorem hominem prefatorum dominorum qui tenere confessi fuerunt pro quandam domum suam cum ochia eidem domui contigua situm in villa de Gimel juxta ochiam et pratum Perrodi Palliex de Gimel et pratum liberorum Humberti Championis a borea et carreriam publicam a vento." "Item, Petrus Bollens tenet de tenemento dicte Johannete titulo accensacionis sibi facte per Martinum Chane unam peciam ochie ..." Another property assessed to this couple came from a "tenement" of Orduynus Chane, but there is no statement about which man, Martinus or Orduynus, was the father of Johanneta. The matter is resolved in other places in the terrier, her father was Orduinus or Arduinus Chane.
In the terrier Fh 105, a reconnaissance for his son Petrus, dated 04 aug 1456, states that Johannetus, father of Petrus, was the illegitimate son (nutritus) of Johannetus Billiard of St. George, thus connecting the Billiard families of Gimel and St. George. Much earlier, in 1301, an Aymonetus Billiard of Longirod made a reconnaissance for the co-seigneur of Aubonne (Fh 104, fol. 125), but we have not yet located any information about his descendants.
In the late 15th Century, a Nicodus Billiard of Essertines (the ACV shows this in at least one place as Essertines-sur-Rolle), an "artisan" (possibly a builder) settled in Lausanne and became a citizen there, 1488 until at least 1518, with a son Franciscus Billiard who was a notary and was (long after his death) identified as "noble". Given the proximity of these places, it is very possible that Nicodus and Johannetus belonged to the same Billiard family, but the surviving sources that might establish such a connection, the terriers and other documents from the area around Aubonne and Rolle have not yielded any further information.
In the terrier Fh 119 (fol. 125, dated 07 jan 1428—this terrier is the precursor of Fh 4), Johannes Billar and his wife Johanneta made a reconnaissance for property at Gimel. One of the properties was adjacent to a parcel held by Mermeta, daughter of the late Petrus Gachet, who made a reconnaissance (fol. 129) in her own name on the same date.
The terrier ACV Ab 2, dating from 1403, includes a mention of property held by Johannetus Billiard of Gimel and his unnamed wife (fol. 181, in the reconnaissance for the noble fief of Nobilis Aymo de Sarrata dominus de Mont lo Grant tanquam heres Domini Artaudi domini de Mont quondam militis vigore pactorum, convencionum, et concessionum dudum factarum per Johannem et Henricum dominos de Montibus bone memorie Domino Ludovico de Saubaudia domino Vaudi in vigilia Epiphanie 1318 — or January 5, 1318). This record helps to establish some dates.
