He is the subject of an entry in the terrier Fh 101, fol. 97v, for Martinus filius quondam Johannis dicti Chanaz de Bacins (=Bassins) habitatoris Gimelli et Orduinus dictus Chanaux eius frater. The terrier appears to be a "quernet", summarizing other records (and including verbatim copies of some transactions). The indistinct notations on the cover tell us that the information has been extracted from other records, and the date 1370 appears at the beginning of the text on fol. 1.
In the same terrier, fol. 110v, there is a copy of a grant by Guilliermus de Grandissono, Dominus Albone, to Martinus Chanaux de Gimel dated 20 may 1380.

Appears with his wife Judith at a baptism in St. Livres, 1637. The surname also is written as Chasne at Apples, 1631, where he appears with wife Jeanne "Faillott". This suggests either that there were two Laurent's, or else some of the baptisms have been misinterpreted. However, the marriage at Pampigny is clear, Laurent son of Reymond Chanoz de Bière, and Jeanne daughter of Egrège Pierre Faillettaz of Pampigny.
