Appears in the church registers at Gimel, the entry unfortunately too faded to read in its entirety. The record concerns a marriage on the 9th of (illegible, likely June) 1578, Estienne F... (surname illegible) of Gimel, curial of Aubonne, to Claude, daughter of the late Anthoine C... (rest of surname is illegible) of Tolochynaz, widow of the late notary Gabriel Tripod. At this period, it is Estienne Favre who is the curial at Aubonne. The surname of Claude has finally surfaced in a reconnaissance dated 31 mar 1570 (ACV Fh 211, commissaires Pierre Tripod and George Dunant, fol. 278v) by "Egreges Pierre filz de Egrege Nicollas Tripod notaire et Discret Gabriel Tripod son frere et Jaqueme sa femme et Claude femme dudict Gabriel fillies de feu Anthoyne filz de feu Girard Costaux de Thollochinaz". There is further genealogical information in this reconnaissance, but the details are confusing. In any case, this is certainly the Claude who next married Estienne Favre.
Specifically, the property described in Fh 211 had been previously recognized (in a terrier compiled by Jean Brasier, reconnaissance dated 23 jan 1506) by "Estevene [Barbier] relaissée de Thivent Demont d'Apples fillie de feu Estievent Barbier et Estevene sa femme fillie de Jaquet Gos", and before that, in a terrier compiled by Jean Vulliet, now lost but likely dating from about 1480, by "Pierre Challet à son nom et comme conjoincte personne de ladicte Estevene Barbier sa femme". This could be significant for the Challet genealogy if it can be proved that this Pierre Challet is the same one whose son Jaquemet married Françoise Cornex. From the chronology, Estevene Barbier would have married first Pierre Challet, and then Thivent Demont, both of her husbands deceased before 1506. Further, the reconnaissance in Fh 211 says that the property came to Claude and her sister Jaqueme by inheritance from their grandmother Louise, daughter of Pierre Challet and Jaquemete Demont. Unfortunately, the text does not specify whether Louise was their maternal or their paternal grandmother, but it would appear from this detail that Louise was the daughter of a later Pierre Challet, not the one who had married Estevene Barbier, or else that the first Pierre Challet also had another wife.
