His wife as of 1678 was Susanne Monod (ACV Fg 159 fol. 82), daughter of Elie Monod and Gabrielle Barbie. She was apparently the mother of at least some of the children of Eg. François Champion, but not necessarily of all of them. Further, a later notation in the same terrier (fol. 29v) says that the wife of Eg. François Champion was Jeanne Monod.
His son Eg. Pierre Champion, who succeeded his father in the office of Châtelain de Gimel, made a claim on 12 feb 1714 regarding a woodlot called the Bois de Bourguignon, on the basis that his mother, like the mother of the principal claimant the minister Gabriel Convers, was a grand-daughter of Gabriel son of Anthoine Monod (Jean Pierre Monod, notary, ACV DK 82/9, loose papers). The claim was rejected, but it is clear that the wife of François Champion, either Susanne or Jeanne Monod, must have been a grand-daughter of Gabriel Monod. The only one who seems to fit this requirement is Susanne, daughter of Elie Monod, son of Gabriel.
An additional claim, apparently not pursued as a result of an additional settlement with the other claimants, was advanced by Eg. Jean Samuel Mayor, son of Eg. Jean Mayor and his wife Jeanne Monod. This claim, however, mentions the portion of Abraham Convers, rather than descent from Gabriel Monod, implying that the Jeanne Monod who married Eg. Jean Mayor is not another grand-daughter of Gabriel. This appears to be correct; Jeanne Monod and Gabriel Monod belong to different branches of the Monod family, whose last common ancestor was probably Stephanus Mayor, son of Aymonet Mayor.
