His parentage as given here may be incorrect. While his relationships seem to place him as another son of Claude Barbie, a reconnaissance in the terrier ACV Fh 175 (fol. 24, 09 mar 1623, referring to earlier reconnaissances of 1570 from a previous terrier that seems now to be lost) mentions Leonard Barbie son of the late Jean. The terrier Fh 31 (about 1580, fol. 76 and at least four other places in the same terrier) , on the other hand, calls him the son of the late Claude.

He was certainly alive at least as late as 13 may 1596, when he appears as a witness for an exchange of property between Claude Barbey and Abraham Convers with his wife "Hennarde" Barbey (Claude Mayor, notary, ACV DB 26/3, fol. 183v).
