The name Andrivete, which occurs in medieval texts such as the epic Escanor of Girard d'Amiens, is occasionally transcribed by modern authors as Andrinete. The script where the name is found in the Swiss records could be read either way, and it is entirely plausible that Andrinete is the better reading. Can anyone locate a source that proves which version of the name is authentic?
It is not known which wife of her father was the mother of Andrivete. She is mentioned repeatedly in the terrier ACV FL 460, which contains "reconnaissances" for property dependent on nobles Jean, Michel, and Claude Fivvaz, brothers, 1526. The properties are located in or near Villars-en-Vully and many were previously recognized (at a time when the feudal seigneur was Claude de Pétigny) by Bartholomeus Gachet. A "reconnaissance" dated 10 jan 1526 for Pierre Gachet, notary and bourgeois de Payerne (fol. 47v) includes several properties that had previously been recognized by Girard Hugonet, whose wife was Andrivete, daughter of the late Pierre Gachet, bourgeois de Payerne, and on fol. 51 we find an even more explicit reference, that the property consisted of "quasquidem possessiones res bonae et pensiones prescriptas in recognitionibus feudalibus prenarratis antiguitus tenebat dictus quondam Girardus Hugoneti avunculus meus dicti confitentis a dicto quondam nobili Glaudio de Pictignye et suis sub censii perpetuo..." (roughly translated, whatever possessions, goods, property, and pensions had been listed in the said feudal reconnaissance that were previously held by the said late Girard Hugonet, uncle of me, the said confessant, due to the said late noble Claude de Pitigny and his successors in perpetuity...). We cannot take "avunculus" (uncle) in the modern, literal sense here; Pierre Gachet, the confessant in 1526, was the great-grandson of the earlier Pierre Gachet. Girard Hugonet was the great-uncle of the younger Pierre Gachet.
Andriveta or Andrineta is described as the late first wife of Girardus Hugonet in a reconnaissance dated 10 may 1456 (ACV Fl 393, fol. 117), but the name of Girard's second wife has not yet been discovered.
However, another version of the genealogy is found in the terrier FL 81, fol. 541 (12 jun 1447), a reconnaissance for Girardus Hugonet clericus, "ex hereditate materna de acquisicione per quondam Mermetam relictam Petri Gaschet eius matrem facta a Nycodo Racton de Paterniaco et Jaqueta filia quondam Johannis Vavoz eius uxore". Could this be correct? We would have to suppose that Johannes Hugonet had married Mermeta, mother of Girardus Hugonet, and that after the death of Johannes Hugonet, Mermeta next married Petrus Gachet as his second wife, and that Andriveta was a daughter of Petrus Gachet by his first wife, supposed to be Francesia Crostel. Under this scenario, Girardus and Andriveta would be unrelated and so could marry. But it may be that Girardus became a notary through the assistance of his stepfather Petrus Gachet.

The sole record of her existence appears to be the record of a dispute involving her burial in the parish church of Payerne in 1534. In the surviving (second) register of the notary Nicodus Probi (fils) (ACV Dp 80, fol. 205), dated 29 may 1534, we find the following item:
Die vigesima nona mensis may et Anno Domini millesimo quingentesimo trigesimo quarto circa horam nonam comparavit personaliter providus Johannes Amedeus Gachet secretarius ville Paterniaci in capitulo tenendo in claustro abbacie Paterniaci, coram venerabilibus dominis religiosis dicte abbacie dicendo et proponendo quod verum erat quod quadem die nuper lapsa defunta erat Anna soror sua qua die fecit ipsam sepellire in cappella parrochialis ecclesie Paterniaci juxta altare dicti Gachet sed non petivit nec requisivit ipsis dominis religiosis invocarent (?) beneditionem adparendem (=adpertinentem, appertinentem?) ipsam in cimsterio dicte abbacie ut minoris est petere unius quisque ipsis dominis religiosis predictum sisternant (?) ante capitulum quod est memora de contrario dicendo et respondendo prefati domini religiosi quod dictus Johannes Amedeus male fecerat infrangendo eorum libertates reprimentes dicendo et respondendo dictus Johannes Amedeus non fecisse male sinisterius sed immoraliter et qua dicta soror sua non habebat etatem qua erat minoris etatis et aliis causis per ipsum alegatus confessus est idem male ficesse et penituisse quare petebat ipsis veniam ac (?) sibi percere et ulterius facere (?) que ... ... sine sibi ... et ... de ulterius petendo quidquam et me notario subsignato ... religiosi et dictus Johannes Amedeus ... fiat cum clausules opportunis, datum ut supra.
The text is not very clear, but it appears Johannes Amedeus answered that he had done nothing to infringe on the privileges of the clergy and meant no harm. In effect, the monks of the abbey were defending their ancient union rules, which gave them exclusive rights to officiate at burials and presumably to collect fees for doing so. By 1534, the Reformation was already well known in Payerne, Guillaume Farel and Pierre Viret having preached there in 1532 and 1533. The monks remained in control of the abbey until 1536, but it must have already been clear to everyone which was the wind was blowing. When Jeanamey had his young sister Anne buried beside the Gachet family altar, without involving the monks, did one of the reformers officiate? It seems strange that no mention is made of an officiant, who, if he acted without the permission of the monks of the abbey, should also have been in hot water with the monks.
This text is the only one discovered so far that clearly states that anyone had ever been buried in the Gachet family chapel in the parish church of Payerne. There is today no visible trace of any such burials, but it may be that the burials themselves are still intact beneath the floor of the church, within or adjacent to the columns and vaulted ceiling (still bearing the Gachet arms) that remain. Of the altar mentioned in the text, there is no trace.
Evidently a different Anne, a "sister" of the groom Niklaus Gatschet, attended his wedding in Bern, January, 1559, according to his notebook, now in the Burgerbibliothek in Bern, and brought her daughter Elisabeth with her from Payerne. Her married name is not given in the notebook of Niklaus Gatschet, and no further evidence of her existence has been discovered. It is very likely that the name of her husband will be found somewhere in the records of the notaries of Payerne. Was she the Anna Gatschet who married Franz In der Matte at Bern 08 may 1563? If so, she must have married previously, before 1559. Now, Niklaus often calls his various sisters-in-law his "sisters". Could this Anne have been the wife of one of his brothers? None of the brothers is known to have had a wife Anne. The only wife whose name is not known is the second wife of François Gachet, whose daughter was named Magdelaine, not Elizabeth. The next most likely identification is that she was a sister or sister-in-law of one of the wifes of Niklaus, but we have so far found no trace of these families in Payerne. In any case, the evidence from 1534 strongly suggests that Anna, "sister" of Niklaus, was not a daughter of Pierre Gachet and Jaquaz Dutruit, nor was the Anne who married in Bern in 1563.

Given name actually spelled "Anthony" in the confirmation of partage of 1561 (recorded by Abraham Chuard, notary at Payerne). The papers of Bernhard von Roth identify him as a brother of Niklaus Gatschet, which seems completely plausible, especially since von Roth also noted the correct parentage for Niklaus and included his brother "Johann Amadeus" of Payerne. Von Roth also says Anthony was a citizen of Bern.
[14594] Family book of Niklaus Gatschet says that his brother Antoni celebrated his Ehetag with Agatha Im Hag in Bern on 29 aug 1560, then the weddings of Antoni and of his brother Daniel were celebrated at Payerne, 15 dec 1560.
