Might he have been the minister whose daughter Elizabeth was the second of wife of Jean Jaques Dutoit, chauderonnier? We have not verified the parish where the present Pierre Frossard served as pastor. He is apparently not the one who was deacon at Avenches in 1646, then minister at Cotterd 1646-1662, Morat 1662-1676, and Meyriez 1676-1678. That Pierre married in 1643 to Magdelaine Bock of Morat and served as pastor there 1662-1677.
The present Pierre Frossard, with his wife Jeanne Clavel of Cully, was pastor at Ormont-Dessus 1641-1646, and before that deacon at Aigle 1638-1641. After Ormont, his next post was at Gryon, 1646-1680. At some point before July, 1658 he married Esther Gerbex of Cully, who was still living at least as late as 1674.
The marriage contract recorded by Abraham Duflon of Cully, 31 may 1638, identifies his father as Spectable Abraham Frossard, minister at Vevey. The contract also identifies the parents and maternal grandmother of Jeanne Clavel.
This leaves us with the vexing question of the identity of the other minister of the same name, the one who married Magdelaine Bock. We have been unable to locate any informative mention of him in the notarial records of the district of Moudon. He seems to have entered theological studies at the Académie de Lausanne in 1634 (assuming the reference pertains to the right man), suggesting a data of birth about 1619-1621. (In a large sample of ministers whose dates of birth are known and who served in the parishes of the Broye, the majority were "immatriculé" at age 13-15.) He might be the brother of the minister Humbert Frossard, son of Mathieu. More information might be sought in the records of the notaries of Avenches.
