The terrier ACV Fn 343, paraphrasing a previous terrier compiled by François Collon, probably from about 1540, calls her Claudine,. but this appears to be an error (fol. 457, 01 mar 1594). The same reconnaissance is also paraphrased in the terrier Fn 337, fol. 183, in the reconnaissance of Michiel filz de feu Jehan Frossard de Brenles bourgeois de Mouldon, 24 apr 1574, for property previously recognized (Eg. Fr. Collon) by "feu Discret Rod Demont au nom de Catherine Frossard sa femme pour la quarte part, et par Egrege Urbain Quisard au nom de Claudine Frossard sa femme pour l’aultre quarte part, et Clement Douron bourgeois dudict Mouldon comme personne conjoincte de Pernette sa femme fillie de feu Discret Antoine Guillion et de Johannette mariés fillie de feu Loys Demarterenges (=alias of Savatayre) et de Jaquette sa femme fillie de jadis feuz Humbert Frossard de Brenles pour la moytié", and before that (commissaire Nycod Escoffey) by feu Noble Henry de Dalliens, "audict confessant parvenuz tant en vigueur et par vertu d’acqui par feu Jehan Frossard son pere faicte de Noble Urbain Quisard Seigneur de Cran au nom et comme personne conjoincte de Claudine Frossard sa femme fillie de feuz Egrege Michel Frossard ..." The contract for her third marriage, to Henry Cavin Lieutenant de Vulliens, is dated 29 dec 1590 (Pierre George, notary at Moudon, ACV DL 46/1 fol. 27v). It says she was the widow of Pierre George of Moudon, and then of Pierre Maillard. She was accompanied on this occasion by her son François Maillard, although he would have been only a small child, and by her brother (?) Antoine Pidoux. If we have read this correctly, is the explanation that her mother Isabel had remarried?

Her marriage to Isaac Burnand is recorded on the same day as that of her sister Marie, and both of them are listed as daughters of the late Pierre Frossard. The Burnand genealogy, believing Catherine's mother Marie Burnand to be the sister of Isaac's father Pierre Burnand, states that Catherine and her husband were cousins. Such a marriage was strictly forbidden under the regulations of Their Excellencies of Bern, particularly for these prominent families. It is very clear that Catherine married Isaac Burnand (and there seems to be no other Isaac Burnand at that period), so it must be the case that Marie Burnand, Catherine's mother, was not, as stated in the Burnand genealogy, a sister of Baltazard Burnand.
The published genealogy makes this Marie Burnand the wife of Pierre Roberty, next of Antoine Gavin, and finally of Pierre Frossard. We have been able to prove that the Marie Burnand who married Antoine Gavin was in fact the daughter of François Burnand, and not of Daniel Burnand. This leads us to speculate that the Burnand genealogy might be correct about the series of marriages. If there were one Marie in all three marriages, and if she were the daughter of François Burnand, the problem of consanguinity would vanish.
Another explanation might be entertained, however. It is not clearly established that Marie Burnand, the daughter of Daniel baptised in 1604, has the same mother as her brother Baltazard Burnand, baptised in 1598. The regulations from Bern are not explicit on this point; a marriage of "half-cousins" might possibly have been permissible.
