Catechumen in 1762 at Biel. Her father was probably the Niclaus Weissbrot who died in 1758, but we have not established what became of her mother. Also, we did not locate her death at Biel, but the records there are often very difficult to read, due to at least one minister whose writing was nearly microscopic and heavily abbreviated besides.
The baptism of her daughter Henriette does not give any clue as to her parentage. This was not due to carelessness by the minister; there was only one Anna Maria or Marie Anne Weissbrot in the parish of Biel at that time. The name Anna Maria was uncommon at Biel. In the whole interval 1725-1760 (thus including all women of childbearing age in 1770 who were born in the parish), there are only two possibilities, Anna Maria daughter of Niclaus (1746) and Anna Maria daughter of Bendicht (1755, but with a marginal notation that she died in 1766).

Illegitimate daughter of Marie Anne or Anna Maria Weissbrot of "Bojean" (Bözingen, parish of Biel), according to the church record at Biel. However, this record does not give the parentage of Anna Maria, nor does anyone from that family appear among the sponsors for the baptism. It may be that Anna Maria's parents had already died.
Did Henriette reach Vevay? Her daughter's description of the family's adventures in the Red River Colony and their wanderings after they decided to leave Canada mention Henriette only once, but if she had died along the way, it is hard to believe that Zélie would not have mentioned this fact. Therefore we suppose that she reached Vevay with her husband and her daughter Zélie, and lived there for some time as a widow. With this in mind, we think she is the Harriette A. Simon who died 26 dec 1856, age 87 years 6 months, buried in the Vevay Cemetery (according to an old partial listing of this cemetery, originally published in a genealogy column in the Indianapolis Star in the 1940's, from Sheila Kell). If that is correct, her age at death should have been 86 years, 6 months, but perhaps someone forgot simply made an error in subtraction.

The marriage record at Biel says that the marriage was celebrated at "the French church" and notes that the bride was from Vauffelin.
Probably named after Charles Cross, his uncle.
