Although she is not in the list of the 17 people who were supposed to have arrived in the United States in 1801 on the ship Voodsop, the list of names given by Perret Dufour (apparently the oldest known source for this information) accounts for only 16 people. However, on page 362 of Perret Dufour's The Swiss Settlement of Switzerland County, Indiana, we find the following information concerning the Boralley family:
The old gentleman Borallay died from the effects of the kick of a horse, some few years after coming to the Country. His widow lived to be a very old person. His son Peter died about the year 1854, on the old homestead in Garrard County, Kentucky. The daughter was married to a man named Mayfield, who removed to Monroe County in this state, where she died, leaving quite a large family, of whom some are still living in that County.
Since Dufour was writing about the old settlers, and seems to have had virtually no knowledge of the affairs of members of those families who remained in Switzerland, the most plausible explanation is that Marie Elizabeth Depallens was the missing 17th person of the party of immigrants in 1801.
