The story presented from secondary sources on the internet says that François Louis Mathieu Diserens and his wife Jeanne Louise Susanne Diserens brought their family to the United States in 1814. A son François Henry Diserens returned to Switzerland for his education and then returned to the United States, joining his parents at Vevay. The parents were apparently reburied in Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati in 1891. All the members of the family born in Switzerland were supposed to have been born in Lutry, but we did not find any of them in the church records of the parish of Lutry. Instead, they were found in the records of the parish of Savigny, which, until 1798, comprised part of the commune of Lutry and part of the commune of Villette. The discovery of the baptism of their daughter Louise in Lausanne in July, 1814 suggests that the traditional date of emigration might be incorrect. Also, because of the War of 1812, very few people attempted the Atlantic crossing until hostilities ceased.
The records of Spring Grove Cemetery show exact birth and death dates for this couple, and for other family members. Those who were born in Switzerland include:
François L. M. Diserens, born in Switzerland, died in Cincinnati on 26 may 1848, age 70 years, 8 months, and 6 days. His body was removed from "M. P. Cemetery" lot 111 and reburied at Spring Grove in section 26, space 3933 on 24 apr 1891. (Computed date of birth from this information is 20 sep 1777.)
Jane L. S. Diserens, born in Switzerland, died in Cincinnati on 15 apr 1853. She was born on 28 jul 1780. The reburial information is the same as for her husband.
"Diserens, Louise Duprey" was born in Switzerland 08 jul 1814 — this is the baptismal record we found at Lausanne — and died in Cincinnati on 10 jun 1860. The reburial information is the same as for her parents. (Louise Diserens married Perret or Perry Francis Dupraz, also born in Switzerland, on 26 mar 1835 in Switzerland Co., Indiana. Other sources say she died in 1863 in Vevay, Indiana. Note that the birth date in the cemetery record is in fact the baptismal date in Lausanne.)
Frederick Diserens, born in Switzerland, died in Cincinnati on 13 jan 1865, age 60 years, 3 months, and 2 days. The reburial information is the same as for his parents. (Computed date of birth from this information is 11 oct 1804.)

On 24 nov 1814, Samuel Mennet was appointed administrator of the estate of John Lewis Diserens in Switzerland Co., Indiana (Probate Order Book I, 1814-1824, p. 1). The inventory and sale of the estate were filed 25 dec 1814. On 08 jan 1817, Samuel Mennet testified that there remained $88.37 1/2 from the estate, and François Louis M. Dizerens appeared before the court "and produced satisfactory proof to the Court that he was a brother and heir of the said John Lewis Dizerens deceased, together with sundry other brothers and sisters of the said Deceased, and also produced a released [sic — this should be a "release"] from the said several heirs to him of all their rights, claims, and interests to the estate of the said John Lewis Dizerens Deceased, which released [release] is ordered to be filed with the Clerk of this Court" (Switzerland Co., Indiana Probate Order Book I, 1814-1824, p. 41). From this account, it is very clear that Jean Louis Diserens had settled at Vevay before 1814, and had died there without leaving a widow or children. Among the possessions noted in the inventory of his estate were two volumes of a French-English dictionary, later purchased by Jean François Dufour.
