He was one of the passengers on the ship Liberty, which arrived at Philadelphia, from Amsterdam, in October, 1805. On the same ship were the wife and children of David Louis Gex, another Vevay settler. He appears to have been the only Italian on that ship.
His dates found on the internet appear to come from family records, but they are consistent with all other sources, including his naturalization record (Switzerland Co., IN, dated 21 oct 1828), which stated that he was born in Turin, Piedmont in 1784 and emigrated from the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland in 1805. So far, no trace of him has been discovered in the records of Vaud, but the presence of people from the Piedmont in Lausanne at that period would not be surprising. However, his birth was not found in the indexes to the baptisms in the various parishes of the commune of Torino, even though Dalmazzo and several variants (Dalmasso, Dalmatio, etc.) are fairly common there. It may be that his baptism will be found in a neighboring commune.
