[15173] Several of the early genealogies show Sarah Maynard as the wife of John Day. Later researchers name Mary Gaylord as his first wife and Sarah Butler as a second wife.
Will of John Maynard shows that John Day was to inherit Maynard's land after the death of his mother, Editha...see "Digest of the Early Connecticut Probate Records" by Manwaring.
It is likely that John Day named his son, Maynard, after his step-father.
Estate inventory taken 29 April 1730, by Joseph Barnard, Ozias Goodwin and Samuel Edwards. Will dated 16 November 1725. Will proven 5 May 1730.
[15584] There are many erroneous reference in regard to the marriages of John Day. Sarah Butler is often named as his first wife. In reality, Sarah was his second wife.
Marr. Sarah Butler of Hartford. He received the property of his step-father, John Maynard, by will.
Sarah, daughter of Thomas and Sarah (Stone) Butler.

[11476] John was a Deacon of the Congregational church in Colchester. On his gravestone in the Westchester Society is the following inscription: Death Reigns....this stone stands to memorialize the death and burial of the aged, humane and pious Deacon John Day, who in the 80th year of his age and on August 25, 1780, quitted this mortal and entered on the immortal state. An honest man (rare to be found), Lies buried deep within this ground, Whose soul to God has winged her flight, And dwells in everlasting light.

[12556] Robert Day was made freeman in Massachusetts on 6 May 1635. He was one of the original proprietors of Hartford, CT, and a prominent citizen. His homelot in 1639 was on the road from Centinel Hill to North Meadow, near the junction of the streets now known as Main and Village. He was chosen Viewer of Chimneys and Ladders in 1643. (See First Puritan Settlers by R.R. Hinman, 1846. FHL microfilm #908908, item 2). Robert Day's will was dated 20 May 1648 and his estate was inventoried on 14 October 1648, so his death occurred sometime between May and October of that year.
Emigrated to America in April 1634. He was at that time thirty years of age, and was accompanied by his wife, Mary, aged twenty eight, as is gathered from the list of passengers of the bark Elizabeth, in which he took passage from Ipswich in England to Boston in New England.
[12550] Robert remained in Cambridge for about two years, then went to Hartford, CT.
