[10716] According to records of the Protestant Presbyterian Church of Cambridge, NY, Elizabeth had five of her children baptized on 16 August 1795. It would appear that her husband, Samuel, was not a church-goer, as she was listed as being the "professing parent". Elizabeth Day joined the church by certificate from a church in "New England" which, unfortunately, was not named. There are conflicting dates for this event. Printed records show 12 Aug. 1795 (shortly before the children's baptisms) and the microfilmed typescript gives a date of 9 Oct. 1795. Chances are that the earlier date is the correct one....(she joined the church, then had the children baptised). Many of the people living in Cambridge were originally from Hebron, CT. [15145] June 2007, Found on internet: American Pioneer Families, J.M. Dale entry, shows marriage to be about 1784, probably in Tolland Co, CT. Also shows Mary Day with birthdate of 1785 instead of 1783. This probably needs to be checked out. I have never been able to locate this marriage. If the marriage did occur in 1774 (as per my d.b.) there was a big gap between marriage & date the first child was born. Maybe due to Samuel being involved with service in Rev. War and away from home? If the marriage was as late as 1783, Elizabeth would have been about 28 years old. [10709] Rev. Hiram P.
