Based on his dates and his career, he is very likely the Paul Burnand who collaborated with Auguste Adrien Burnand in preparing the Burnand genealogy published in the Recueil des Généalogies Vaudoises.

He is no. 247 in the Burnand genealogy.
He is the author of an article on the Johannot of Echandens, in which he reveals that he descends from the Johannot family, evidently through his Foltz ancestors ("Les Johannot d'Echandens", Revue historique vaudoise 66: 177-189, 1958). In the same article, along with interesting genealogical and biographical details, he says that he either possesses or is aware of a portrait of a Jean Johannot born at Annonay 16 apr 1686, painted at Geneva in 1734. The sitter has in his hands a document relating to the payment of 3000 livres, signed, apparently, by the widow Imbard of Lyon. Where is this portrait today?
