1860 index, Ohio census, Warren Co., Union Tp., p. 67, with George VanBuskirk on p. 68, same household. Not located in 1870 census, though we have tried! Death notices from Cincinnati Daily Gazette 1827-1881 include several children that could belong to this family: John J. d. ?? may 1844 age 5 months, Marshall d. 22 aug 1847 age 18 months, William d. 24 aug 1847 age 2 months. But there are also others that could not belong here, including a Robert 1817-1849 and a James 1816-1879.
Robert's story may be more complicated than we thought. There is a marriage in Butler Co., OH, Robert Whiteside to Martha Jane Coffield, 09 jun 1839. It is very possible that this is our same Robert Whiteside with a first wife, and the consequence of this would be that Robert's first child, Catherine Louise, is in fact the daughter of the first wife. This reminds us that Robert's wife Ann Isabella Malony's will calls Loyd Elmore Whiteside her son, but does not call Catherine Louise her daughter! Moreover, the Malony information shows that Ann Isabella had been married previously to Michael Summers, of whom nothing is known.

[12309] Inventory of John Whiting's estate was taken at Hartford, CT on 5 Nov. 1689 by James Steele, Stephen Hosmore and John Willson. The first distribution was made on 3 Dec. 1691 and a second distribution made on 1 Sep. 1692. See Hartford, CT probate records, 1635-50 on Ancestry.com.
From the ages of the Whiting children in 1689 it would appear that the three youngest sons were from the second wife. (Samuel, age 11; Joseph, 8; John, 1 year old).
The older children were _____ Bryan, age 34; William Whiting, 30; Martha Bryan, 28; Sarah Bull, 26; Abigail, 24. This leaves one of the children unaccounted for, as there were supposedly seven children from his marriage to Sybil Collins. Elizabeth Whiting is named in the second distribution, bringing the number of children to 7.
Rev. John Whiting was ordained colleague with Mr. Stone in 1660, and served the church ten years, till February 22, 1670, when he became Pastor of the Second Church in Hartford. Of the ten years of Mr. Whiting's service about three were in connection with Rev. Mr. Stone; three years he was sole Pastor, and four years were in connection with his associate and successor, Rev. Mr. Haynes. He died November, 1689, aged 50 years. (This date does not agree with earlier research).
Married Sybil, daughter of Deacon Edward Collins of Cambridge, by whom he had seven children.
....letter about the death of Mr. Whiting, is incorrectly printed in the Massachusetts Historical Society Collections, series 5, volume 8, page 144. An examination of the original letter shows that the word was Mrs. and not Mr. It was John Whiting's second wife, Phebe, who married Rev. John Russel, of Hadley.
