Ordered by the Court that Andrew Rea another Orphan of John Rea Deceased be bound to William (pg torn) untill he arrives (torn).. to learn the Art and My(ftery) of Cooper. Unfortunately, no date of birth is given in this order of 1774 but apparently Andrew was the youngest of the sons and his date of birth has been estimated by family members working on that line.

Death date estimated from tombstone reading.
Mrs. Underwood copied this inscription from the Steele Creek Burying Ground in Mecklenburg Co., NC: In memory of David Rea who died March 5, 1834 in the 43rd year of his life.
Death date in error; shows 1784, instead of 1834.
Petition of Jane Rea, widow, states that David died intestate, leaving his wife and children: John M., Eleanor, Jonathan, Mary M., Isabella C., David L., William and Franklin, all of whom are infants. William Neel was appointed guardian to the children. Jane asks that David's property of about 150 acres, be reappportion, so that she is allowed her portion of the estate (dower land).

Date and place of birth given in this document.
David Rea served several short terms during the Rev. War years. On the strength of this service, David was awarded a pension of $23.88 per annum, to commence on the 4th of March 1831. By May 1833, the government was in arrears in the amount of $59.70, when a 2d Declaration for Pension was submitted. While it appears that the Court found that David Rea was a soldier of the Revolution, it is unclear whether he actually received a pension.

Mr. D. Lee - No death date. Formerly of Charlotte. Died in Stockton, CA. A second typescript of notices from the Fresno Expositor, gives the year as 1875, which is assumed to be in error.
[10398] Looking through old correspondence, I found a ltr dtd 9 May 1973 from Muriel Wardlaw, an historian in Fresno, who helped locate facts about the Rea family. The obit of a David Lee Rea reads: "At Tulare City, Oct. 31, 1875, died David Lee Rea, native of North Carolina, aged 48. The deceased came to this state on the 8th day of June 1867 and has ever since been a resident of the San Joaquin Valley. In March of 1874 he took up residence in Tulare City where he lived until his death. He leaves a wife and eight children." Estate file for either David Lee Rea would help clarify relationships. One was the brother of Jonathan. Who was the second David?
