Sometime before June, 1578, the "court of fiefs" for the barony of Aubonne ruled against her regarding certain obligations associated with property she had inherited that had originally been held by Michel Marquis (see ACV Fh 150, fol. 269). Records of some of the feudal courts have survived, so it might be possible to locate more information about this situation. From the various reconnaissances that have been located so far that concern these properties, it appears that all of them had been purchased by her father, and not inherited by him from the Marquis family, so there is apparently no genealogical connection between these families.

He had died before 1507, and at that time (ACV Fh 9, fol. 94), his successors were "Johannes Filliectaz de Gimel necnon Petrus, Jacobus, et Johannes filii quondam Jacobi de Fogia". He is apparently the same Petrus Filliettaz whose wife Peroneta made a reconnaissance 30 sep 1454 (Fh 123, fol. 115v), and the reconnaissance of Petrus himself (Fh 123, fol. 607), gives his ancestry. Apparently the same Petrus, son of Johannes Filliettaz, made a reconnaissance 23 jan 1430 (Fh 119, fol. 159). There are, however, occasional mentions of a Petrus Filliettaz junior in this period, still to be explained.
By about 1543, the successors of Petrus Filliettaz had died, and were replaced, literally, in a quernet Fh 16 (circa 1543, commissaire Aimé Mandrot). The censiers or tenants named in this quernet were originally copied from one or more earlier sources, and then the names were amended as necessary, by lining out or altering the grammatical endings for the old names and inserting the names of the current tenants. In this instance, the original text in Fh 16 (fol. 513v) follows that found in Fh 9, above, which was then altered to read: "Petrum, Jacobum, et Mariam filios Johannis filii quondam Petri Fillietaz, necnon Johannem filium Jacobi, et Petrum filium quondam Petri filiorum quondam Discreti Jacobi de Fogia notarii et Bone filie dicti Petri Fillietaz". However, the alterations in Fh 16 are often difficult to read, and sometimes inconsistent, with the result that the final intent is sometimes uncertain. It is also entirely possible that the commissaire who compiled the quernet did not have complete or accurate information about all of the tenants. At the very least, it appears that the commissaire understood that everyone in the original generation listed in Fh 9 had died, and had been replaced by their progeny. After reviewing the available evidence, we favor the explanation that the Maria in the amended text is actually the daughter of the notary Stephanus Filliettaz, another son of Johannes Filliettaz. This Stephanus (or in later terriers, Estienne) had died in 1525, and by 1543 his heir was in fact his daughter Maria, who had married the notary Michael Collat — fair warning, that the alterations in Fh 16 may have left out significant details!
