It is likely that we have missed the baptisms of some of his children. Anne must have been born before 1630, or else she married very young. The baptism of Susanne was not easy to find; she was listed as the daughter of "Noble Jean de Verde soit Favrouz et de Marie Mahuet sa femme". This alias, more often listed as d'Everdes in the records at Château-d'Oex, does not seem to be noted in the literature as an alias of Favrod; the noble Favrod family of Château-d'Oex is usually called Favrod de Fellens. The marriage contract does not list either alias. The discovery of this unexpected alias led also to the discovery of two more children who appear to belong in this family. The old terriers of Château-d'Oex will probably reveal something of the history of this little-known branch of the noble Favrod family (ACV has terriers Fc 207-213 from about 1625, and Fc 184-193 from about 1595).
The supplement to the Dictionnaire historique of Martignier and Crousaz (1886) has a list of the Châtelains of Château-d'Oex, or at least as many as had been identified at that time. The most likely parentage for our Jean or Johannes Favrod d'Everdes is the Châtelain who held the position about 1593-1596 and whose wife was Françoise. And the baptism of our Jean or Johannes Favrod could be the one recorded 22 dec 1575, for "Jan fils de Jan Favrod et de Françoise sa femme", for whom the sponsor was "Jo. Favrod Chastellain". It is not possible to prove the parentage from the church records, which have many gaps and other difficulties, but we might expect clarification in the terriers discussed above.
