However, there is a collection of genealogies of the residents of this village approximately 1500-1700, not yet examined.

Probably two families have been combined here, but the records are confusing and incomplete. Wife Anne Barral (?) cited in 1645 at a baptism in Apples, but probably of Estienne Borel, not Bory. It is not entirely implausible that one name transformed into the other. The alternative spellings for such names as Morel (the same people are also referred to under the spellings Moret and Moré in this part of the Pays de Vaud in the 16th and 17th Centuries), as well as occasional alternative spellings for pré (meadow: we found spellings such as prez and prel in the 16th Century), argue that Borel was probably pronounced Boré in some areas.
Further confusing the issue is the finding that apparently the same Estienne "Bory" is frequently called "Boly" in some of the terriers, raising the possibility of confusion between the true "Bory" and various families using spellings such as Boley, Boly, Bolier, and so forth.

Baptised as Isaac Bory. The parentage of the Isaac François Bory who married Anne Elizabeth Monod is not entirely clear. On the assumption that the church records of Apples are relatively complete, we take this Isaac François to be the son of Estienne Bory baptised in 1642, and not another son of Claude son of Estienne whose baptism we were not able to locate.

He acquired citizenship at Apples in 1696 (Archives Communales d'Apples, E 21). He is cited as Châtelain there 1692-1713, replaced by 1749 by Jean Daniel Bory. A brief history of his family was published by Adrien Besson ("Les châtelains Bory d'Apples", Revue historique vaudoise 45:243-250, 1937), based on family records and other sources, but it is not known who held the family records at that time. There appear to be significant discrepancies between this account and what we were able to find in the church records.
One of his daughters, called Marie, had married André Muller of Yens before 1751. We have not been able to identify Marie with any of the children whose baptisms have been located so far. It is very possible that her baptism was recorded under some other name.
