His parentage (proved because the same source also names his wife and gives her parentage) is given in a "reconnaissance" of 19 jun 1648 (ACV Fe 150, fol. 377v). His baptism has not been located, even though the records at the appropriate period seem to be in good order. It is possible that his baptism was recorded in error as Jeanne instead of Jean, or that the family name was recorded incorrectly.

That Susanne was his second wife seems to be proved by a mention in his reconnaissance of 1648 (bottom of fol. 382) that his daughter Barbille was already the wife of Pierre Dubochet of Sionzier. The only baptism that could be hers is the one dated 08 aug 1619, about four years before he married Susanne Delesmillières. At this baptism, the sponsors included Barbille daughter of Vincent Dubochet grandfather of the said (infant) Barbille. The next child that could be his, a son Claude baptised 30 oct 1622, is clearly marked as illegitimate. There are other, earlier baptisms that might also pertain to this Jean Dubochet, but there is not enough information in these entries to be certain.
