Records of Benoît Nible, notary at Payerne (ACV Dp 73) , contain many valuable references. Marguerite was his second wife, and it was her second marriage as well. Her parentage is mentioned in several places, and on 06 apr 1587 she sold her half interest in a woodlot owned jointly with André Fyvaz for the heirs of Claude Banquettaz (among them Tobie Banquettaz). The marriage settlement of 26 mar 1587 (Jaques Girod, notary) names her first husband and also notes that she had an inheritance from Noble Jaques Valliez.
Benoît Nible was remarkable not only for his voluminous records, but also for his connections to the notable families of Payerne. The marriages of his daughters and other relatives linked many of the elite families, and documented them in a way unmatched in the records of any other notary. On the first page of his first register, he gives his ancestry back to his great-grandfather and gives an account of his initiation as a notary in Payerne.
