There is some confusion over the identity of Françoise Challet. Françoise daughter of the late George is cited as the wife of Noble Jaques Grasset in records of the notary Claude Mayor, 20 mar 1586 and in a number of terriers in the same period. About the same time, however, Françoise daughter of Sebastian Challet was the wife of Nicolas Mayor. There are many references to the Françoise who was the wife of Jaques Grasset.

He was already dead by 14 mar 1564, when his daughter Pernette and her husband François Forestey made a "reconnaissance" for property previously held by her grandparents the late Jaquemet Challet and his wife Françoise Cornex of Trévelin (cited 08 feb 1612 in a "reconnaissance" by George's nephew Gamaliel Robert, ACV Fh 173 fol. 561 ss—the reconnaissance of 1564 was from a terrier compiled for the hospital of Aubonne by Begoz and Barbier, not yet identified). His half-brother was Michel Croisier. He is the same George Challet (at Trévellin) mentioned in the terrier compiled by Louis Challet in 1534 for the de Costable family (ACV Fh 146 fol. 371). An earlier terrier compiled by the same notary in 1522 has an entry for "Michaelis filii quondam Johannis Croysier et Georgii filii Jaquemeti Challeti" (ACV Fh 144 fol. 135), concerning property from their mother Françoise Cornex, and proving the order of her marriages.
There is so far no evidence concerning the wife of George Challet. He probably married after 1534, and there seems to be no mention of his widow in the terriers examined so far.

She is assigned here because her son Pierre Mayor of Ballens received a testamentary donation from his "maternal uncle" Estievent Challet, 13 dec 1538 (mentioned in reconnaissances by Pierre Mayor for property subject to the former Chapitre de Genève, AEG Titres et droits Cc 159, fols. 24 and 54, dated 15 jun 1563 and 18 mar 1564).

A reconnaissance for Jaquemetus and Stephanus Challet, brothers (both therefore past the age of majority), is found in the terrier of Jean Brasier for the Château of Aubonne, 1506 (ACV Fh 137 fol. 627). At that time, they owned property at Bougiez sus Mont. By about 1521 (ACV Fh 143), Jaquemet was acting for his son George Challet and for his step-son Michel Croisier, both presumably still under the age of 25.

He is mentioned as Jaquetus Challet alias Lovet in a reconnaissance by Johannes de Leydessos alias Francellet et Francesia eius uxor, 13 dec 1437, as a tenant of adjoining property (ACV Fh 5, fol. 228v, the part of this terrier beginning on fol. 221 is stated to have been recorded by the notary Johannes Thomasseti). From the alias, we can suppose that he was already married to Ysabella Lovat by that date. Apparently the same Jaquetus (no alias listed, nor any further genealogical details) made a reconnaissance in the same terrier (fol. 264) on 29 jan 1443.

Mentioned in a document of Claude Mayor, notary at Ballens, 21 mar 1570. François Robert dit Gadel represented his wife Nicolarde in a "reconnaissance" 15 sep 1573 for property dependent to the Confrérie du Saint Esprit of Aubonne (ACV Fh 159 fol. 63v). This property had previously been held by George son of Jaquemet Challet of Trévelin and by Michel Croisier his half-brother (reconnaissance es mains de Pierre Cuynssin, date not given). Other terriers from this period contain many mentions of Nicolarde and her husband.

Named as father of Jaquemet Challet in a reconnaissance dated 14 may 1567 (ACV Fh 211, commissaires Pierre Tripod and George Dunant, fol. 495). He was already dead by 25 sep 1506, when his sons Jaquemet and Stephanus/Estivent made a reconnaissance for commissaire Jean Brasier (Fh 137, fol. 627) . The reconnaissance of 1567 mentions a distant connection with the Lovat family; a Jaquet Challet had recognized property for commissaire Jean Thomasset in the name of his wife, Ysabel, daughter of the late Nycod Lovat, somehow connected, apparently, with Guillaume son of Johannod Lovat.
The reconnaissance of 1506 makes clear that Petrus (Pierre) Challet was the father of Jaquemetus and Stephanus, and this Petrus left a widow Colleta (=Nicolleta).
In Fh 122 (fol. 42v, 23 nov 1442) he is called "impuberis" and is represented by his father Jaquetus Challet. He was therefore still under the age of majority.

[1251] A citation in the archives of Lully mentions Françoise, widow of the late Sebastien Challet, 1573.
He may be the same person as the Tivent Challet who is mentioned in a reconnaissance date 15 jun 1563, in the terrier AEG Titres et droits Cc 159, commissaire Pierre Begoz, which appears to be a copy of ACV 157 (not yet examined). On fol. 24 of Cc 159, there is a reconnaissance by Pierre son of the late Jean Mayor of Ballens and of Jaquema daughter of the late Pierre Challet of Bougier St. Martin, and a previous reconnaissance for the same properties had been made by Tivent Challet.
