She died sometime between 1645, when her last child was born, and 1650, when Aaron Cooke married (2) Joan, daughter of Nicholas Denslow.

[9734] Ella Metsker Milligan's monograph entitled Christian Gnaegi - Pioneeer Evangelist and Local Preacher of the United Brethren in Christ, 1938, names Abraham Forney as the father of Catherine. This is incorrect. Catherine was the daughter of Joseph Forney of Somerset Co., PA, who died in 1802. Christian Kneagy was named as a bondsman in Joseph's will.
A copy of this article was filed at the Mennonite Library in Lancaster, PA in the early 1980's and was referenced in Eugene Kanaga's Descendants of Johanes Gnage and John Knege, Sr. and Related Families, 1988. Kanaga was informed of the error regarding the name of Catherine's father and our correspondence is on file. A note about this error has been added to my copy of Kenaga's book.
According to Mr. Kanaga, after the death of Catherine, Christian married Catharine Harbarh. Nothing else is known. Tuscarawas Co., OH, marriage records show a Justice of the Peace named F.C. Harbaugh. Could this have been the father of Catharine? Tuscarawas Co. records need to be explored.
[9733] Ltr contains errors re some members of the Gnaegi family.

[9974] Joseph Forney died intestate in Somerset Co, PA in April 1802. Documents on file show that his daughter, Nancy, was married to Daniel Zug. His second wife, Barbara, was the widow of Isaac Miller, deceased by 1785. Christian Knegy (Gnaegi) was his son-in-law, married to daughter, Catherine. His land in Elk Lick Township (484 acres) adjoined that of Peter Livengood, Abraham Begley (Beeghley?), Christian Lighty, John Bigley, Henry Yoder and others. See Laurel Messenger, Feb. 1975, pg. 7. Same page has information about the estate of Isaac Miller.
There is considerable erroneous information on file in various local history societies in Pennsylvania. Research on the Forney family by the staff at Somerset Historical Society in 1996 turned up many interesting tidbits....but accuracy is doubtful.
[14958] The name of the first wife of Joseph Forney has not been proved but many researchers believe she may have been Barbara Yoder, the daughter of Christian Yoder and Barbara Hooley. See World Family Tree, vol. 5, pedigree #3011.
I do not have actual death date, but according to his estate papers, it was about April 1802. There were two venues (sales), one for personal and household goods and one for farm items and livestock. The estate couldn't be settled until his youngest child became of age.
Estate No. 6 -- 1802: Joseph Forney, Elk Lick Twp. Adm. bond filed Apr. 17, 1802. Administrators, Ebenezer Griffith and Joseph Forney. Bondsmen, Shephat Dwire and Christian Kneagy.... Petition for valuation land partition of 483 acres of land, dated Aug. 25, 1806, names widow, Barbara, and seven children.
[14956] Barbara, widow Miller, would not have been the mother of the Forney children.
Estate 15-1802 -- Isaac Miller of Brothersvalley Twp. Petition of Christian Miller of Stoneycreek Twp., eldest son and heir at law of Isaac Miller states that his father died in 1785, leaving a widow Barbara, since married to Joseph Forney....
