It is not certain which of the two Jean deBonnevilles is "le petit", but we suspect it is the younger one. Among other reasons, after the death of the elder Jean deBonneville, signaled by the appearance of his widow Thomassaz, Jean deBonneville "le petit" was still baptising children.

Called "l'ancien" in 1591, apparently to distinguish him from the other Jean deBonneville, who married in 1592. Further, we find several mentions at that period of Jean deBonneville "le petit", or "le petit dit Gonnin". Also, we found "Gonnin le jeune" and similar. Therefore, it appears both men are properly "dit Gonin", the younger also known as "petit". The elder's widow in 1600 was Thomassaz, but we found no indication of the death of his first wife. We equate the second marriage with the gap in the dates of his children.

Identified as the mother of Jaqueme Sergi, a sponsor at a baptism in Gimel, 1582, "du molin de Sobré". As Jaques Sergi is identified at about this time as "meusnier du molin de Sobré", it seems most likely that Louise was Jaques' wife and Jaqueme his daughter. Another reference to Louise as the "belle-mère" (evidently meaning step-mother, in this instance) of Pierre Sergi seems to show that Pierre was the son of Jaques Sergi by a previous marriage.
