This Claude Lambert was still alive in 1570, cited in the terrier for Ballens of 1622 (ACV FH 175 fol. 211v). The citation says that as of 15 jun 1570, Claude Lambert owned property in the village of Ballens, which had previously (in a terrier compiled by Jean Brasier, which should date to approximately 1506) been the property of Michel son of Pierre Lambert, "grandfather of the said" Claude. Unfortunately, the construction is ambiguous, and it is possible that the Commissaires of 1622 meant to say that Michel, rather than Pierre, was the grandfather of Claude. The problem is resolved in the terrier Fh 31, dating from about 1580, which specifies that there were then two men called Claude Lambert, one the son of Philibert son of Michel, the other the son of Antoine.

A Jaques Lambert made a donation involving Jacob Convers in 1613, cited in several places in the terrier ACV Fh 175 (notably fol. 204v ff), dating from 1622-1623. Since at least one of the properties was held circa 1570 and 1580 only by Claude son of Anthoine Lambert, it seems most likely that this Jaques was the son of Claude baptised in 1582, and further, that his father Claude was the son of Anthoine. The reason for the donation, however, is not yet apparent. Typically, such a donation would imply that Jaques had no children of his own, and that he was closely related either to Jacob or to Jacob's wife.

He made a "reconnaissance" on 30 oct 1507 for the terrier compiled by Jean Brasier (ACV Fh 137, fol. 431v), giving his ancestry. Philibert son of this Michel appears to be same the Philibert whose sons Claude and Michel owned property jointly (circa 1580) with Claude son of Antoine Lambert and with Jean Monod son of Michel Mayor alias Monod and his wife Françoise Lambert (Fh 31 fol. 49).

Land owner at Ballens mentioned frequently circa 1570, along with his brother Claude. However, the situation is somewhat murky due to a marriage contract of 13 mar 1569 (Claude Mayor, notary at Ballens, ACV DB 26/1 fol. 86v) in which Pierre Girardin of Féchy marries Claudaz, daughter of the late Michel Lambert of Ballens, represented by her uncle Claude Lambert. Presumably the same Michel Lambert witnessed a sale of property 08 feb 1569 (DB 26/1 fol. 67v) and had divided property with his brother Claude 24 jan 1569 (DB 26/3 fol. 29v). But a Michel Lambert is also a witness to a sale of property at Ballens on 29 may 1573 (DB 26/4 fol. 67).
The present Michel, son of Philibert, made a "reconnaissance" 27 feb 1531 (Fh 52, fol. 156v) for property that had been divided between Philibert and his brother Humbert, sons of the late Michel Lambert who was in turn the son of Pierre Lambert.
Apparently the same Michel, son of Philibert, was a party in a dispute involving property at Ballens (ACV IB 296b/896, dated 30 aug 1561). At that time, Michel also represented: (1) Christine (or her heirs?), daughter of the late Michel Lambert and formerly the wife of Estienne Bernard of Martheray (Michel and Christine representing 1/2 of the interest of the Lambert family in the disputed properties), (2) Anthoine, son of the late Humbert Lambert (representing a 1/8 interest), (3) Françoise, daughter of the late Pierre Lambert, formerly the wife of the late Michel Monod and now the wife of Jean (or Michel?) Jaquenod of Etuey (representing a 1/4 interest), and (4) Pernon, wife of the late Jaques Lambert and tutrice of their children Pierre, Françoise, and Claude (representing a 1/8 interest).
It is not easy to explain this division! First, the fact that Françoise, widow of Michel Monod (who is also called Mayor in some records), had a 1/4 interest suggests that she had 3 siblings, of which only one, Michel, grandfather of the present Michel, has been discovered so far. One of the missing siblings was probably the father of another son Michel who was the father of Christine. The present Michel and Christine would therefore be second cousins. Therefore, Christine on her own probably also had a 1/4 interest in the estate of the patriarch Pierre Lambert. The remaining half of the estate of Pierre had evidently come to be vested in the grandfather Michel, perhaps by purchasing the share of the hypothetical fourth sibling. This half interest was now (1561) split among the four children of the grandfather Michel: Humbert had died and his 1/8 interest was represented by his son Antoine; his brother Jaques had died, leaving his 1/8 interest in the hands of his widow as the tutrix of their children; and the rest of the half interest, amounting to 1/4 of the original estate of the patriarch Pierre Lambert, was apparently undivided, still held jointly by whatever descendants of Philibert and his brother Antoine who were still living, represented by the present Michel. While this explanation seems plausible, it requires that some of the "condiviseurs" are not explicity named, and that there were additional transactions among the heirs of Pierre not explicitly described. In particular, we find no mention of Claude, brother of the present Michel. Claude appears to have been alive as late as 1570 (mentioned in other records). One way that the present Michel would end up having a 1/4 interest in the transaction of 1561 would be that there had already been one or more "partages" that conveyed Antoine's interest in some properties to Philibert, and Claude's interest in some properties to Michel. The shares described in 1561 thus suggest the outlines of the genealogy, but must also conceal some of the details.
The dispute of 1561 was preceded by a set of four reconnaissances executed in May, 1546, now catalogued as ACV C XX 18/11. The dispute of 1561 resulted in a decision that the reconnaissances of 1546 erred, by confusing two distinct "censes", one for 22 cups of grain that should have been paid by the Mayor and Soudan families, the other for 7 cups of grain that should have been paid jointly by the Lambert family (the division discussed above). However, the reconnaissances of 1546 omit the family of Jaques Lambert entirely, and add no new information about the relationships of the rest of the family. They do, however, mention that the fathers of Michel, Christine, Antoine, and Françoise were all deceased by 1546.

He died before 1569, because his sons Claude and Michel (identified as sons of Philibert in many other records) were already dividing property between themselves on 24 jan 1569 (Claude Mayor, notary at Ballens, ACV DB 26/3 fol. 29v). Other records place his death even earlier.

Landowner at Ballens in the late 15th or early 16th Century, cited repeatedly in the terrier of 1622 (ACV Fh 175). Those citations point to a terrier compiled by Jean Vulliet, probably in the late 15th Century. The next terrier in the sequence, by which time the properties seem to be in the hands of Michel, son of Pierre Lambert, was compiled by Jean Brasier (ACV FH 137, fol. 431v, 30 oct 1507).

Witness in 1585. He must be the Pierre son of the late Jaques Lambert who, along with his sister, was represented by Michel son of Philibert Lambert in a "reconnaissance" dated 15 jun 1570, cited several times in the 1622 terrier ACV Fh 175 (see fol. 198 ff). In 1570, he was evidently a minor. By about 1580, in the terrier Fh 31 (fol. 64v), he has reached adulthood.
He appears to be the same Pierre who is mentioned in a dispute involving property at Ballens (ACV IB 296b/896, dated 30 aug 1561), in which one of the parties is Pernon, widow of the late Jaques Lambert, tutrice of their children Pierre, Françoise, and Claude.
