Which Joseph Chenevard is this? There were two infants baptised with this name at Bière in 1638-1639, one the son of Abraham, the other the son of Jean. This Joseph, whatever his parentage, may have been the father of the minister Pierre Chenevard, first noted at Nyon in 1695, son of Joseph, justicier et ancien du consistoire de Bière. Pierre would have been born, most likely, about 1670, during the gap in the records at Bière.
The Joseph Chenevard who married Eve Dorothée des Oches of Saubraz in 1686 is called "le jeune" in 1689. Was that Joseph another son of the Joseph who married Jeanne Melden? This seems to be the most plausible explanation, because in 1691, a Joseph Chenevard and his wife appear at a baptism as the grandparents of the first child of Jeanne Françoise Chenevard and Jean François de Pursinge. In order for the wife of this Joseph to be the grandmother of the infant, she would have to be Jeanne Melden, and not Eve Dorothée des Oches.

The marriage record at Nyon, 24 apr 1717, reads: "Monsieur le ministre Convers de Ballens a benit ici à la priere du soir le mariage de son nevey le Sieur Isaac Guibat de Biere avec l'ainée des filles de Monsieur le Ministre Chenevard pasteur à Apples et de Demoiselle Wllyamoz son epouse." From this we establish, first, that Marie Esther Magdelaine is indeed the eldest of the daughters of the minister Pierre Chenevard, and second, that Susanne Convers, mother of Isaac Guibat, was the sister of the minister Gabriel Convers.
