Information from the Hobler family in England claims Abraham is son of Jean Louis who is son of Michel b. 1589 in Nyon. The source of this information has not been identified, nor has the further descent, son Louis, his daughter Jeanne married Pierre André Hobler in 1717. There is already a daughter Jeanne who appears to belong to Louis who married someone else! Marriage record of Abraham and Françoise 1640 clearly names parents.
A notation in the registers at Nyon says that deacon Daniel Buvelot son of discret Abraham Buvelot and of Françoise Gruet was the son or grandson of Mr. Abiel Perreaud, who was minister at Nyon from 17 feb 1605 until his death 16 feb 1609. Another notation notes that François Perreaud, minister from Bresse, was deacon at Nyon 1609, and was son of the minister Abiel Perreaud. It would appear, then, that the mother of either Abraham Buvelot or of Françoise Gruet was a daughter of Abiel Perraud, minister first at Echallens, then Cossonay, and finally Nyon. Abiel had a brother Eléazar who was a professor at Lausanne.

This is the landscape painter, of whom the Historisches-Geographisches Lexikon der Schweitz has this to say:
" *3.3.1814 (Abraham-Louis) Morges, 30.5.1888 Melbourne (Australien), ref., von Morges. Sohn des Siméon, gemeindl. Säckelmeisters, und der Jeanne-Louise geb. Heizer, Primarlehrerin. 1) 1843 Marie Félicité L'Alouette, 2) Caroline Julie Beguin. Erste Zeichenstud. bei Marc-Louis Arlaud in Lausanne. 1835 reiste B. nach Brasilien, wo sein Onkel eine Kaffeepflanzung besass; er lebte in Bahia und Rio de Janeiro (mehrere Ansichten der Bucht). 1852 kehrte B. in die Schweiz zurück. Bevor er 1855 Zeichenlehrer an der Industrieschule von La-Chaux-de-Fonds wurde, bereiste er 1854 Indien. 1864 liess sich B. mit seiner zweiten Frau endgültig als Photograph in Melbourne nieder. Er gab die Photographie bald zugunsten der Malerei auf und erwarb den Ruf eines der besten Landschaftsmaler Australiens."
If, as we suspect, the earliest documented Buvelot ancestor of Abraham Louis is in fact a son of Abraham Buvelot and Jeanne Catherine Hobler, the Hobler family in Australia would thus be doubly related to the most famous landscape painter of Australia. Whether this was coincidence, or whether the Buvelot family of Morges preserved some memory of its expatriot relations, cannot now be answered with certainty. If the supposed relationship is correct, Abraham Louis Buvelot the landscape painter would be the fourth cousin once removed as well as the fourth cousin twice removed to Jean Paul Hobler (1754-1795) of London.
